Some More Photos of our First Race

For our first race on FORTUITOUS it was hot! There was not a lot of wind, but we still did pretty well. We got her moving over 4 knots with the gennaker out. Though we finished DFL, we still finished, and there is something to that! We had the entire crew of Endeavor to help us out, and even more special, my parents were visiting, so they got to help with the race. I am sure that is an experience they never had before.

See how the water is so glassy, you almost can't tell where the water ends and the sky starts? That is because there is nothing blowing across it!

Though there was not much wind, we were able to fill the sails. Dad was a big help, trimming the mizzen. Though I think that hat clashes with our sails.

Mom jumped in wherever she could help, mainly working lines, and trying hard like us all not to overheat!

Janele found a solution to beating the heat: swimsuit! I guess if we fouled our prop on a trap, she'd have been the first to go in and inspect. :)

We got to see a beautiful sunset.

Sometimes you just have to sit back and admire the sails.

As the sun set, the clouds formed, and foreshadowed what would come later. We got quite the storm, but fortunately it came after we were safely tied at dock. That was a whole other adventure, though.
